Lestat and Louie feel sorry for vampires that sparkle in the sun. They would never hurt immortals who choose to spend eternity going to high school over and over again in a small town —— anymore than they would hurt the physically disabled or the mentally challenged. My vampires possess gravitas. They can afford to be merciful.

Public School

So I was looking around tumblr and I found out that some people have posted things they learned from going to private school. As I went to public school this will be a public school version of that list.

  1. It is possible to learn in an environment that looks like a prison.
  2. Ghetto kids can be smart.
  3. Sadly most are not.
  4. Drug dealers like standing around the corners of schools when class gets out.
  5. Don’t stay late at an event, your likely to get caught in the cross fire.
  6. Find out what color your local gangs rival wears, DON’T wear that color.
  7. "Hey white chick" is apparently an acceptable name to call someone.
  8. The scarier people think you are the safer you are.
  9. Being able to blend into different groups of people (ghetto, prep, drama nerds, etc.) is a useful skill.
  10. When a black chick takes her heels off it is time to disappear (apparently they make great weapons).
  11. Going to college makes you a genius.
  12. Don’t be a snitch.
  13. Tutor people if you are smart, it makes people less inclined to attack you.
  14. Don’t trust tap water, the pipes can always be rusty (seriously we had signs over the water fountains that told you not to drink from them the water was so bad).
  15. Just because you happen to live in the grand old US of A don’t expect your local public education to be worth a damn because when you get out into the rest of the world your formally genius self will be at best average.

An ancient bone with a projectile point lodged within it appears to up-end - once and for all - a long-held idea of how the Americas were first populated.

Women Told They Must Ride In The Back Of The Bus In Brooklyn

Spanish society has been shaken by allegations of the theft and trafficking of thousands of babies by nuns, priests and doctors, which started under Franco and continued up to the 1990s.

The best judge of whether or not a country is going to develop is how it treats its women. If it’s educating its girls, if women have equal rights, that country is going to move forward. But if women are oppressed and abused and illiterate, then they’re going to fall behind.
